FINALLY, I am so very pleased to introduce you to my first ever pullover/sweater/jumper design- the Anouk Pullover. This one has been rolling around in my mind since 2019 and has been in the works since July of 2020!

Yes. IT’S CROCHET. And yes, while you are asking questions, it is REVERSIBLE too. Let me tell you more.

You can find the printable pattern PDF for the Anouk Pullover in my ETSY and RAVELRY stores!

***

The Inspiration: Anouk” is a variety of lavender, of which the center and sleeve detail of the
pullover reminded me of. Anouk is also a French/Dutch name that means
“Grace” and “Favor” (pronunciation HERE). I wanted to create something that was both cozy and classy- you can dress it up (but who leaves the house anyway?) or just snuggle up in it. It’s basically a sophisticated sweatshirt…

The Pullover: The Anouk is a pullover pattern that is created in panels, from the bottom up, and seams. Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round off of the body. It is made to fit with 10-12″ of positive ease. So it’s a very cozy, oversized boxy fit, with extra long (but customizeable) sleeves. There are options in the pattern for customizing fit (full schematic is included), as well as the option to pick your necklines. It includes instructions for both a V-neck and a Boatneck. Most testers chose to do one of each neckline, making the pullover REVERSIBLE, but you can pick whatever 2 necklines work for you! The pattern includes size XS-4XL (28″-56″ actual bust) but actually goes up to a fit of 68″ if you wanted something less roomy, with a tighter fit!

The Yarn: I was so pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Christine of Treasure Goddess Yarn on this design. Not only are her yarns beautiful- AND PIRATE THEMED- but she dyes exclusively semi-solid and tonal yarns, which makes ANY of her colorways fantastic for crocheting. You don’t have to worry about how speckles, variegation or color pops will group up or pool in your projects and I love that (ps: great for knitting too. Great for everything!). I used the colorway “Ghost Ship” on her Treasured Toes (fingering/sock) base and I am so thrilled with the outcome. It’s the loveliest dusty gray with blue/lavender undertones and it has made the perfect neutral for my wardrobe (and I can wear all the wild shawls over it!). Christine is offering 15% off 3 or more skeins of her sock yarn through January 18th, 2020. This allows you to build your own kit and pick a color (colors!?) that make your heart sing. NO COUPON CODE NEEDED! You can view the listings here: Warm tones, Blues and Greens, and Neutrals.

It is a little bit of a yarn eater, so I totally understand if indie dyed is not the route for you. However, if it’s possible for you, I do highly encourage you to check out Treasure Goddess Yarn. The pattern calls for 5 (6, 6, 6, 6) (7, 7, 8, 9) skeins of Christine’s yarn. For more info on yardages, please see either the Etsy or Ravelry listing.

But several testers (more on them later!) did use other more budget friendly options. If you’re looking for something you can find at your local craft store I recommend checking out Woollike by Loops and Threads (Michael’s) (an 85/15 acrylic/nylon blend at $3 for 678 yds)- it comes in tons of solid colors! Or Soft and Sleek DK (Hobby Lobby) – it’s sold as DK but its definitely a fingering weight sub, and bonus it washes really well (its 100% acrylic, $5 for 478 yards, in an array of heathered colors). I love to encourage crocheters to try out indie dyed yarn (it’s not just for knitters!!!!), but I never want you to feel like you can’t make my patterns without subbing in a yarn that works for you! Also, do not be intimidated by fingering weight yarn- yes, it is a time commitment. But it creates such beautiful wearable fit and drape that you will not regret it!!

What’s included: As I mentioned already, it’s a size inclusive pattern written for XS-4XL. The pattern pdf includes TONS of photos to help you choose your fit and neckline options, as well as photo tutorials for stitch placement and techniques. Also included with the purchase is a private video that will walk you through the main stitches and techniques used in the pattern and help you get started! The pattern is fully written, detailed instructions, and also includes a (super cute, might I add) schematic to help you decide with size and neckline options will fit you the best! With all the visual helps includes, this pattern is an Advanced Beginner level. Also included as videos from my channel on how to add a project to Ravelry, as well as how to wet block a finished item.

The Testers: I had a lovely group of testers that stuck it out with me through the holiday season of 2020 (ooohhff.) I loved how they each made the sweater their own with color choices and neckline options! Some of them got really creative with color combos! You can find more info about their individual pullovers in the Ravelry project pages!

Becca of @cindergracecrochet– she used Treasure Goddess Yarn in the color Song of Sirens. I love this color with her skin tone!

Amy Kate of @thegracefultangle — you can check out her pattern review on her YouTube channel as well! She used Knitpicks yarn, which would be a midrange budget option!

Sanjana of @raw.talks did some really creative color blocking on hers. I love the puff stitches split with two colors. OBSESSED.

Flori of @crochetbypoli also did some fun color play on the version she made for her daughter! (Combining yarn colors is a great options if you’re unable to find enough for your sweater in all one color, or what to do some stash busting!)

Christine of @hooksandneedlescrochet also played around with colors! She used Treasure Goddess Yarn in the colors “Fathoms Deep” and “Pieces of Eight” . The contrast neckline edging is a nice pop!

Susie of @finishedobject combined 6 one of a kind skeins into their masterpiece. I have to say this is some of the best yarn blending I have ever seen! The testers and I agreed she is some kind of garden faerie.

Satina of @onerulebejeweled chose such a cheery color- I love the pops of yellow!

Kristen of @creatingwithkristen did a stunning job with color choice- I love how she in mimicking that beautiful landscape. A for effort on photoshoot locations!

Julia of @juliakdonelly also went for the landscape matching points! And I love how she choice to pair the neutral blue with a fun scarf. This pullover can be a great staple piece in your wardrobe in you want to layer some more handmade neckwear over it!

Nikki of @rustedhookhandmade chose this stunner of a rust orange. If I was to make myself a 2nd one, I think I would choose something like this! (And Treasure Goddess actually has a very similar color I considered as my original choice for the design!)

Lastly, Melanie of @firstcoffee.thencrochet picked this amazing, gentle gray. I don’t think I could trust my toddler-mama self (or even just me myself…) with something this light, but I think it looks so delicate and gorgeous with her hair and skin!

*note: 3XL went untested due to circumstances arising with my 2 testers for that size. If you fit the measurements given in the pattern- see Etsy & Ravelry and want to test that size out for me, shoot me an email at contact@fiberandfox.com

I hope this inspired you to make your own Anouk and has answered any questions you might have on the pullover- don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more! Happy making, my friends!
